Andrew Marcus is enthusiastic in his engagement with lighting and sound design and constantly
strives to expand his experiences. Throughout his early years and love of theater, he's been able to write,
direct, act, and ultimately pursue the technical and design aspects of theater in university. Andrew has work
experience in professional intern programs, regional, collegiate, summer camp, high school, and middle school
theater.
He got his start in middle school in a playwriting program facilitated by Philadelphia Young
Playwrights and has won multiple awards in their annual competitions against ~700 other playwrights. (She and
Me - 3rd place [2017], Shakespeare's Curtain Call - 2nd place [2018], cat:burgled - 2nd place [2022]) His newfound passion for the
theater led him into acting, amassing over 20 production credits. Some of his favorites include: Dogberry (Much
Ado About Nothing), Professor Callaghan (Legally Blonde), and Elwood P. Dowd (Harvey).
Eventually, he stumbled his way into the technical side of theater and something just
clicked. Andrew was a very quick study, and since has dabbled in almost every aspect of theatre design and tech
ranging from carpentry to live mixing, costume design to lighting design, and with this broad knowledge, he is
able to more effectively communicate with all departments to foresee and minimize conflicts from pre-production
through opening night. With that knowledge, he found himself in two professional internships at Quintessence
Theatre Co. in Philadelphia, PA and Theater at Monmouth in Monmouth, ME. Andrew is now pursuing a B.F.A. in
Theatre Production & Design at Ithaca College.
In his "free time," Andrew enjoys DJ'ing the longest running specialty program, The Best
of Broadway, on 91.7FM
WICB (Ithaca College's FM radio station), applying to jobs, or procrastinating applying to said jobs by
programming this very website you see before you from scratch in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
